If you purchase a foreclosure home and live in the home yourself for periods of 5, 10, or 15 years your grant money increases up to 22% of the purchase price of $346,250 for a foreclosure (Bank Owned) home in Maricopa County. There are different grant purchase cut-offs in other counties. The grant starts off as a loan at zero (0%) and is forgiven if the minimum occupation requirements are met. There are other requirements (see qualifications). This grant program requires qualification and taking a one day class offered through the state. However, with a little effort this can be a huge benefit to the homebuyer.
